Dustin Lynch, Gunnar & The Grizzly Boys Perform at NMU

Friday 23, 2015

Country singer Dustin Lynch and the Michigan-born band, Gunnar & The Grizzly Boys, will perform on Sunday, Nov. 1, at Northern Michigan University. The concert begins at 7 p.m. in the Berry Events Center.

Lynch is a Tennessee native who combines traditional influences with “an edgy intensity.” His self-titled debut album hit No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart. The lead single, “Cowboys and Angels,” exceeded platinum sales status. Lynch has performed nationwide on Luke Bryan’s 2015 Kick the Dust Up Tour, which ends Oct. 30. He will join Bryan and Little Big Town on their joint Kill the Lights Tour in 2016. Lynch previously opened for Keith Urban.

Gunnar & The Grizzly Boys is influenced by a wide range of musical styles, from classic country to Detroit rock and ‘90s punk. Gunnar Nyblad, the group’s leader, still farms the family apple and fruit orchards near Kent City that he’s worked in all of his life. While attending Michigan State University for an agricultural degree, he introduced his childhood friend and bass player Rob Mason to his college buddies and fellow Michigan natives: lead guitarist Shane Grehan of Alpena; guitarist/keyboardist Chris Newberg of Rockford; and drummer Joe Connolly of Rochester Hills. The group has released three albums.

Ticket prices are: students, $17 floor/$15 general admission; non-students, $27 floor/$25 general admission. They can be purchased in person at all NMU EZ Ticket outlets, by calling 227-1032 or online at www.nmu.edu/tickets.

Northern Arts and Entertainment and the NMU Student Activity Fund are sponsoring this event.
