NMU Presents Silent French Film with Live Piano

Thursday 24, 2016

The Northern Michigan University French Club will present a showing of the classic silent film, La Maison du Mystère (The House of Mystery), with live grand piano accompaniment. The event begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, in the Ontario Room of the University Center. It is free and open to the public.

The involved plot of La Maison du Mystère revolves around Julien Villandrit and his star-crossed courtship to Regine de Bettigny, which inspires bitterness and jealousy in Henri Corradin, Julien’s long-time associate and secret rival in love. According to Fritz Kramer’s blog, Unboxing the Silents, “The House of Mystery is one of the most exciting silent film releases to come along in ages. This is the firm time it has been available to the general public since its release over than 90 years ago."
