Human Rights Activist Speaks at NMU

Monday 4, 2016

Einav Yogev, a researcher in the terror and low intensity conflict program at the Institute for National Security Studies in Tel Aviv, will present "Terrorism, Feminism and Human Rights: A Personal Perspective" at NMU. Her talk is scheduled from 4-5:40 p.m. Thursday, April 7, in 1318 Jamrich Hall. It is hosted by the English department and gender and sexuality studies program.

Yogev's presentation will focus on tensions that arise from the clash of feminism, human rights and security concerns, informed by her experience living and working in the Middle East as both a human rights activist and security studies specialist. In 2015, she was selected to participate in the U.S. State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program, "Changemakers: Promoting Women in Peace and Security." She is also a partner in founding the Israeli branch of the international organization, Young Professionals in Foreign Policy. She holds a master's in diplomacy and bachelor's degrees in philosophy and English literature from Tel Aviv University, along with a diploma in senior public management from Bar Ilan University.
