NMU Honors Harrison with Pop-Up Reading

The Northern Michigan University English department will host a “pop-up” reading to honor the work of author Jim Harrison, who died on March 26. The event will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, in Olson Library. It is free and open to the public. Individuals who would like to participate may bring passages of Harrison’s work they would like to read. Books from the library’s collection will also be available. 

Born in Grayling, Mich., Harrison spent much time in the Upper Peninsula. He was the author of nearly 40 books of fiction, poetry and essays. His novels "True North" and "Returning to Earth" are set in the U.P.
