Recent Northern Michigan University graduate Stephen Tennis designed the new logo for Peter White Public Library, which is celebrating its 125th anniversary. His design was selected as the winner from about 30 submissions. It was unveiled April 11 in celebration of National Library Week.

“We really appreciated how Stephen’s logo represented the heritage of PWPL with the image of our 1904 building—the iconic Front Street entrance—with Marquette’s library of the future, the entrance of the 2000 addition,” said Heather Steltenpohl PWPL Development Director. “Our heritage and history are important, but the PWPL’s tradition of service always relied upon keeping up the services of the future. We also appreciated the clear image as well as the versatility of Tennis’ logo.”

Peter White Public Library staff launched a logo contest because it had been 15 years since the last update.

Tennis said, “I was both surprised and excited when the library contacted me to tell me that I had won the logo contest. The library is such a staple of the community and being able to help build on that reputation with my logo is an honor.”
