ESPN The Magazine has announced that NMU alumnus and Team USA duathlete Chris Mosier will be the first transgender athlete featured in its annual “Body Issue.” Mosier also made sports history June 19 by becoming the first out transgender athlete to compete in an International Triathlon Union championship, when he ran and biked in the world duathlon championship. He finished second among U.S. men in his 35-39 age group and 144th among 434 competitors, according to ESPN.

Mosier is one of 19 athletes featured in the eighth edition of ESPN’s Body Issue. The magazine will be available online July 6 and on newsstands July 8. To see a related story in The New York Times, click here.
