NMU alumnus and Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz is one of five influential leaders profiled in CNNMoney's new documentary series, The American Dream: New York. Schultz describes how his athletic ability enabled him to escape the Brooklyn projects for NMU before he went on to "create a business empire that revolutionized the way Americans consume coffee." Schultz will step down from Starbucks' CEO post in April. He will serve as executive chairman, focusing on "innovation, premium offerings and, most importantly, social impact."
