NCLL Offers Overnight Porkies Tour

The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning is offering an overnight sightseeing tour to the Porcupine Mountains State Wilderness Park to celebrate the summer solstice.

The tour is open to the general public. It will depart from the Berry Events Center at NMU on Tuesday, June 20, and return on Wednesday, June 21, with pickup and drop-off along the way.

Participants will be treated to a beachside bonfire and see some of the finest attractions in the Porkies, including the Visitor Center, Lake of the Clouds, Summit Peak and Greenstone Falls. Other attractions include the waterfalls at the mouth of the Presque Isle River, Canyon Falls on the Sturgeon River and Bond Falls on the middle branch of the Ontonagon River.

Overnight accommodations will be at the waterfront AmericInn Lodge and Suites in Silver City. The bus will stop at the Hardwood Steakhouse in Covington for dinner on the return trip.

Cost for the public is $209 per person for double occupancy and $ 274 for single occupancy. All NCLL members will receive a $10 per-person discount off the general public price. The reservation deadline is Friday, May 19. Call 226-6167 for reservations or more information.
