'Scrooge' Play Adds Letters to Santa Campaign

Monday 27, 2017

Northern Michigan University’s Forest Roberts Theatre is enhancing its production of Scrooge by inviting youth ages 12 and under to write a letter to Santa. In return, they will receive a postcard response from Wildcat Willy with an offer for a free children’s ticket with each adult ticket purchased for Scrooge.

“The Forest Roberts Theatre elves are making sure to get letters to the North Pole,” said Director of Theatre Bill Digneit.

Letter forms and stamps can be picked up and hand-delivered at designated mailboxes. They are located in the lobbies of Forest Roberts Theatre in NMU's Thomas Fine Arts building and the Marquette Post Office on Washington Street through Tuesday, Dec. 5.

There will also be mailboxes at Wednesday's NMU Lighting Up the Holidays event and at the Marquette Tree Lighting ceremony on Friday, Dec. 1.

To guarantee a response, youth should include names and addresses on the letters.

Scrooge, a musical retelling of A Christmas Carol, will be performed Thursday, Dec. 14-Saturday, Dec. 16, at 7:30 p.m., with 1 p.m. matinee performances Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 17, at Forest Roberts Theatre. Tickets are $15 for the public, $10 for students and $5 for NMU students.
