Northern Michigan University alumnus Scott Beaulier ('00 BS), dean of the College of Business at North Dakota State University, will present “Headwinds in Higher Education: What’s Happening to Tuition Prices, University Finances and Why it Matters” as part of the Your Wealth lecture series. The presentation begins at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, in West Science's Mead Auditorium. It is open to the public.

Beaulier’s talk will focus on national trends in higher education and some of the “shocks” seen in budgets throughout the country. He will connect the big picture narrative to his own experiences. 

During Beaulier’s visit, he will also address a NMU economics class and will meet NMU economics majors during lunch. 

Beaulier has 15 years of experience in higher education as a professor and university administrator. He holds a Bachelor of Science in economics and history from NMU, and he obtained his Master of Arts and doctorate in economics from George Mason University. Beaulier was formerly the head of a research center in the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University and of the Manuel H. Johnson Center for Political Economy at Troy University.

According to Beaulier’s website, he has “spent his career actively engaged in understanding and advocating for policies that foster dynamic, vibrant economies that best allow businesses and entrepreneurs to thrive.” He “believes that people—innovative, creative, and dedicated business leaders—are the life blood of any economy.”
