Bio:

Dr. Adenike Olowolagba has been hired as a one-year term Assistant Professor for
the 2026–2027 academic year. She will be teaching introductory organic and
biochemistry courses for STEM and pre-nursing majors.  Dr. Olowolagba earned her
B.S. in Industrial Chemistry from Federal University Oye-Ekiti and her first M.S. in
Organic Chemistry from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria. She then served as an
assistant lecturer at Federal University Oye-Ekiti before continuing her graduate studies
at Michigan Technological University (MTU). At MTU, she earned a second M.S. in
2024 and completed her Ph.D. in April 2026—both in Chemistry. Her doctoral research
focused on the design, synthesis, characterization, and application of fluorescent
probes for biological sensing and live-cell imaging, including studies in cancer
cell models. During her time at MTU, Dr. Olowolagba served as an active member of
the local Upper Peninsula section of the American Chemical Society and organized
STEM community outreach projects. Outside of academia, she enjoys spending time
with her family outdoors, especially hiking, kayaking, and winter activities.
