A number of individuals employed by Northern Michigan University also serve our country by being affiliated with various National Guard and Reserve units of the United States Armed Forces. Some have been called to active duty and have served or are currently serving either overseas or here in the States. As most of you know, military life is a tough profession that often requires service members to be separated from their family and community for long periods of time. We at NMU appreciate their dedication and service to our country as well as our community. NMU thanks all those from the university community who are serving or have served to protect our country’s freedom.
NMU supports our NM community members who serve in the military by following all state and federal laws. Supervisors are encouraged to identify individuals from their work area that are members of the National Guard and Reserve and ensure they receive the required support that will allow them to meet their military obligations. To assist the supervisor, the following provides supervisors with important information on how to support employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve units of the United States Armed Forces. Supervisors are strongly encouraged to review the Department of Defense video. Questions about this topic should be directed to Human Resources at extension -2330.
