NOTHING BUT NETS FASHION SHOW FEB. 15

Tuesday 3, 2009

The Northern Michigan University chapter of Nothing but Nets will hold its second annual “Nothing but Nets Fashion Show” at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, in the University Center Great Lakes Rooms. Admission is by donation.

Nothing but Nets is a non-profit organization founded by former Sports Illustrated and current ESPN magazine writer Rick Reilly. Its goal is to raise money to send insecticide-treated bed nets to Africa to help prevent the spread of malaria. NMU’s chapter is in its third year and expects about 70 volunteers for the event.

“It’s something different for Marquette in terms of a fundraising event,” said Stevie Fisher, member of the organization. “It generates a large amount of interest.”

The fashion show will feature everyday wear donated by local retailers Kohl’s, Vanity and Maurices, as well as formal and prom wear from Bride’s Choice. NMU and area high school students will model the clothing.
