A free open skate will be held during Northern Michigan University’s Winterfest. The theme of this year’s celebration, scheduled Feb. 15-21, is “Timbrr! Get Your Lumberjack On.”

Community members are invited to a night of free skating with friends and Wildcat athletes from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the Berry Events Center. There will be free rentals and hot chocolate and participants can have their photos taken with Wildcat Willy.

NMU’s Winterfest will also feature a broomball tournament, airband competition, a search of the frozen campus during Clue, human sled-dog races, prize giveaways from the Spirit Police patrolling campus and an NMU vs. MTU “Food Fight for First Blood.” To see the full schedule, visit www.nmu.edu/winterfest.
