Three students received prizes from Northern Michigan University Bookstore’s Spring Break Photo Contest. Students were asked to send in pictures sporting NMU gear in action while on spring break.

Garrett LaForce of Barrington, Ill., took first place with his photo outside the suburban city of Surprise, just south of Phoenix, Ariz. The picture features his brother, Ben LaForce. “The winds were very high,” LaForce said. “I was nearly knocked off my bike by a tumble weed just minutes later.”

Megan Sarder’s photo was second. The Iron Mountain native snapped a shot of her family’s NMU apparel hanging on a clothesline to dry during their time in South Carolina.

Third place went to Joshua LeClair of Two Rivers, Wis. While on a road trip in Florida, LeClair took his photo of the beach of Marco Island.
