TIPS ON FINDING EXTENDED CARE OFFERED

The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will offer a free presentation on searching for the best extended care facility or nursing home. This seminar will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, in the Whitman Hall commons at Northern Michigan University.
It will be presented by Bobbie Clift, who has several years’ experience visiting nursing homes across the Upper Peninsula as a Nurse Consultant for the State of Michigan. She will talk about doing onsite visits to several facilities and talking with families whose loved ones reside here, as well as interviewing staff and learning what services the facility offers in addition to nursing care. Clift will also discuss ways the care can be paid for, what Medicare/Medicaid covers and how to apply for these programs, Durable Power of Attorney forms and living wills.
There is a class size limit of 25 people and a registration deadline of Monday, May 18.
