MARQUETTE, Mich.—A hands-on workshop on raising monarch butterflies will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 13, in room 414 Cohodas Hall at Northern Michigan University. The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning is sponsoring the event.

Presenter Jeannie Wratschko will explain how to raise the butterflies, create “way stations” for them and document, tag and release them for current research. She will also discuss the butterflies’ life cycles and migration patterns. An optional short hike along the bike path south of Washington Street will follow the indoor workshop.

The program is free for NCLL members and $4 for nonmembers. Please register by Wednesday, June 10, by calling class liaison Marge Forslin at 869-4791.
