A new exhibit titled “Hollywood Comes to Marquette County: the Making of Anatomy of a Murder” will open Friday, June 19, at the Beaumier Upper Peninsula Heritage Center at Northern Michigan University. The opening reception with light refreshments is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. in 105 Cohodas Hall. Residents who were involved in or witnessed the filming of the movie are encouraged to attend and share some anecdotes about their experiences. 

The exhibition begins with the story of John Voelker, including his life as an attorney, judge and author of such books as Anatomy of a Murder. It will explore his work on the People vs. Peterson murder case, which was the inspiration for the book and the film. The exhibit will also focus on how the book became a movie, the shooting of the film in Marquette County and the impact it had on the community and movie industry. It features dozens of photographs, artifacts, movie memorabilia and plenty of information about this classic American film.

As part of Marquette County’s 50th anniversary celebration of the film Anatomy of a Murder, the exhibit will be on display at the Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center through December.
