PEOPLE’S LAW SCHOOL OFFERED AT NMU

An eight-week program analyzing Michigan’s legal system and outlining the rights and responsibilities of state citizens will be held this fall at Northern Michigan University.
The People’s Law School runs from 7-9 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 17 through Nov. 5. Upper Peninsula attorneys and a circuit court judge will give presentations on such topics as bankruptcy, medical malpractice and the following areas of law: elder, employment, divorce/family, Michigan’s no-fault, criminal and constitutional. Individuals are welcome to attend any or all sessions for a fee of $25 to cover materials. Scholarships are available to those with financial need.
The People’s Law School is sponsored by the NMU department of political science and public administration, the NMU Student Law Forum, Pence and Numinen, and the Michigan Association for Justice. Attorney Steven Pence is coordinating the program and NMU Professor Steven Nelson will moderate the sessions.
