NCLL EXPLORES SPEEDSKATING

MARQUETTE, Mich.—The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will sponsor an opportunity to watch a practice session for U.S. Olympic Education Center speedskaters and hear a presentation from the coach and available skaters. The practice begins at 7:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at the Berry Events Center.
Northern Michigan University will be the site of a World Cup competition in November, the last qualifying event before the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. The USOEC coach and skaters will describe the sport, along with training and qualification guidelines, and answer any questions. The program will end with a short tour of the USOEC.
The cost of attendance is $4 for NCLL members and $7 for nonmembers. The registration deadline is Wednesday, Oct. 14. To register, contact class liaison Paula McCormick at 228-5489.
