SEXUAL VIOLENCE ADDRESSED

Thursday 25, 2010
MARQUETTE, Mich.— Josh Phillips, who walked from Miami to Boston to raise awareness of sexual violence and encourage men to take a stand, will speak at Northern Michigan University. The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, March 29, in 103 Jamrich Hall. It is free and open to the public.

Phillips wrote a book on his experience titled “1,800 Miles: Striving to End Sexual Violence One Step at a Time.” While many sexual violence presentations are delivered from the female survivor’s perspective, Phillips will share his unique views on the topic. According to the NMU health promotions office, national statistics indicate that 20-25 percent of college women report being raped during their college careers.
