MARQUETTE, Mich.— Agatha Christie’s most successful play, The Mousetrap, will be the final production of the season at Northern Michigan University’s Forest Roberts Theatre. Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, through Saturday, April 17. An additional 1 p.m. matinee will be held on Saturday.  

The Mousetrap opened in the West End of London in 1952 and is the longest continually running play of all time. It follows a young couple, Mollie and Giles Ralston, who run a Victorian guesthouse. They are snowed in with four guests and another traveler whose car is stuck in a snowdrift. When one of the guests is murdered, it becomes apparent that anyone present could be the killer. The murder mystery is known for its twist ending. It is tradition for each performance to end with a request that audience members not reveal the killer’s identity to anyone outside of the theater.

NMU professor Paul Truckey is directing the production. Actors and their roles are: Mollie Ralston portrayed by Emma Couling, Mollie Ralston; Mark Jamrozek, Giles Ralston;  Aaron Sarka; Kristen Halsey, Mrs. Boyle; Brian Elliott, Major Metcalf; Ella Bartlett, Miss Casewell; Ben Filipowicz, Mr. Paravicini; and Pierce Huxtable as Sergeant Trotter. Set design is by Kim Hegmegee, lighting by Victor Holliday and prop and furniture design by graduate assistant Jennifer Henry.

Tickets are $12 for the general public and $8 for students. They can be purchased at the Forest Roberts Theatre box office and at NMU EZ Ticket outlets.
