BALLARD ADDRESSES MICHIGAN TAX REFORM ISSUES

MARQUETTE – Charles Ballard, a leading authority on Michigan’s fiscal challenges, will present a forum on tax reform and revenue issues confronting the state. The event is scheduled at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, in 105 Jamrich Hall at Northern Michigan University.

            Ballard is considered a national expert on state tax reform and is been consulted by public policy makers in Michigan about needed structural tax and revenue reform. He has been on the economics faculty at Michigan State University since 1983. In 2007, he became director of the State of the State Survey in MSU’s Institute for Public Policy and Social Research. He has served as a consultant with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Health and Human Services, the U.S. Treasury and research institutes in Australia, Denmark and Finland. A published author, his books include Michigan at the Millennium and Michigan’s Economic Future.
