HERITAGE CENTER NAMES PHOTO CONTEST WINNERS

 MARQUETTE, Mich.—The Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center at Northern Michigan University recently announced the winners of its student wildlife photography contest. Dominic Davis, an English major from Marquette, won first prize for “Spotted,” a black-and-white photograph of a deer on Presque Isle. David Pavlik, a zoology major from Holt, took second place with his color photograph of an American Bittern bird on the Presque Isle bog walk.

            In addition to the winning photographs, eight other student submissions will be on display in the center’s gallery in 105 Cohodas Hall as part of the George Shiras III installation, which opens May 19. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
