MARQUETTE, Mich.— Keenan Quinlevan of Mequon, Wis., was recently selected for a summer internship at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla. He is an athletic training major at Northern Michigan University.
“When I came to Northern, I did not have a certain career choice in mind.” Quinlevan said. “I knew I wanted to get involved with some type of health care field. After reviewing the majors that Northern offered and meeting with Julie Rochester, our program director, I knew that athletic training was the right choice for me.”
Disney offers paid internships in a variety of areas. Interns are able to gain hands-on experience in their field of study while making professional connections. They also participate in a Disney University curriculum, which includes instructors and self-led courses.
Quinlevan said internships run by Disney and ESPN are very competitive, as is the athletic training field. It requires considerable time and dedication to keep up with the skills. By securing a summer internship, he will be able to interact and network with other athletic trainers from around the country.
