MARQUETTE, Mich.—The Seaborg Mathematics and Science Center at Northern Michigan University still has openings in some of its summer college courses for elementary and middle school students. Morning sessions are from 9 a.m. to noon and afternoon sessions run from 1-4 p.m.

For updated availability and information, or to register, call 227-2002 or go to www.nmu.edu/summer. Children entering kindergarten in the fall may participate in the K-2 programs.  Most sessions cost $60; those with daily field trips cost $70.

            June 21-25: morning sessions Exploring our Senses, grades K-2; Build It Festival, 3-5; and Forensic Science 101, 6-8; afternoon sessions What Scientists Do, K-2, and Forensic Science 102, 6-8.

            June 28-July 2: morning sessions Mystery Festival, 3-5, and Rockin’ Roller Coaster Science, 6-8; and afternoon sessions Mystery Festival, K-2, and Robotics Challenge, 5-8.

            July 12-16: morning sessions Earth Science Rocks, K-2, and Electrical Connections, 6-8; and afternoon sessions Crawly Critters, K-2; Turtles and Toads, 3-5; and All Kinds of Engineering, 3-5; 

July 19-23: morning sessions Colors, Colors Everywhere, K-2;, and Electro-magnetism, 6-8; and afternoon sessions All About Magnets, K-2; Snack Tectonics, 3-5; Turtles and Toads, 3-5; and Serious Robotics Challenge, 6-8.

            July 26-30: morning sessions Rain Forests, K-2, and Motion and Design with K’Nex, 3-5; and afternoon sessions Kitchen Chemistry, K-2; Science Experiments with Toys, 3-5; and Advanced Turtles and Toads, 6-8.
