MARQUETTE AAUW HONORS BECK

            MARQUETTE, Mich.—The Marquette branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) recently presented the 2010 Martha Griffiths award to Jaclyn Beck, who graduated from Northern Michigan University in May with a bachelor’s degree in computer science.

The North Prairie, Wis., native was nominated by NMU professor Mike Kowalczyk. She was a member of the student chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery and assisted with organizing NMU programming contests. She also presented research at Argonne National Laboratory’s 20th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium in Chicago. Beck received an internship with NASA and has been accepted into the University of Wisconsin graduate program in her field. She received a certificate and $150 check from AAUW.
