PINHOLE CAMERA WORKSHOP OFFERED

Tuesday 13, 2010
MARQUETTE, Mich.—The Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center will host a pinhole camera workshop at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 24. The event will be held in 105 Cohodas Hall at Northern Michigan University. Participants will build an actual pinhole camera, take a photograph with the camera and print the image all in the same day.

This workshop is open to ages 5 and up with fees as follows: Adults, $7.50; Seniors 60+, $5; Students, $4. There are only 25 spots available, so please call to make reservations at 227-1219.

With instant photography possible today via cameras, phones, computers and pens, people’s lives have become awash in images. This workshop will take photography back to its origins, showing the techniques by which early photographers captured their images. It will include a short lecture on the history of photography before the participants begin to build their cameras.  There will be a short break for lunch at 12:30 p.m.
