CLOSING RECEPTION FOR SHIRAS EXHIBIT

            MARQUETTE, Mich.—The Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center will host a closing reception for the exhibition “George Shiras III: Hunting for Wildlife with Camera and Flashlight” at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20. The center is located in 105 Cohodas Hall at Northern Michigan University.

            This exhibition is funded by the Shiras Institute. It features three dozen photographs that are part of the permanent collection of the DeVos Art Museum, interpretive panels about Shiras’ life and some of the apparatus he used to trigger flashes and cameras remotely. 

            This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be served. For more information, call 227-1219.
