STEP AFRIKA PERFORMS AT NMU

Friday 3, 2010
MARQUETTE, Mich.—Step Afrika, the first professional company dedicated to the tradition of stepping, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, in Northern Michigan University’s Forest Roberts Theatre. Step Afrika will appear at NMU as part of the Uniting Neighbors in the Experience of Diversity (UNITED) Conference.

The body is used as an instrument by creating intricate sounds through footsteps, claps and spoken word. Step Afrika has toured in North and South America, Europe, Africa and the Caribbean. The company has been profiled on PBS, BET and CNN and featured in several books.

Tickets cost $2 for NMU students and $5 for the general public. They are available at all NMU EZ Ticket outlets or online at www.nmu.edu/tickets.
