MARQUETTE, Mich.—Nationally known foreign affairs and military expert Andrew Bacevich will speak at Northern Michigan University about the unprecedented political, military and economic crises facing our country. His presentation, “Sacred Trinity: American Foreign Policy,” is scheduled at 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, in Reynolds Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Bacevich is an international relations and history professor at Boston University and author of Washington Rules: America’s Path to Permanent War.  His previous books include The Limits of Power: The End of American Exceptionalism; The New American Militarism: How Americans Are Seduced by War; and American Empire: The Realities and Consequences of U.S. Diplomacy.  

A 1969 West Point graduate, Bacevich served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and held posts in Germany and the Persian Gulf. He retired as a colonel in the early 1990s. Bacevich previously taught at West Point and Johns Hopkins University. He also holds a doctorate in American diplomatic history from Princeton.
