ARGENTINE FOLK-GROOVE BAND COMING TO NMU

            MARQUETTE, Mich.—The Argentine folk-groove act, Los Pinguos, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, as part of the Northern Michigan University International Performing Arts Series. The concert will be held in the University Center's Great Lakes Rooms.

            Los Pinguos formed in 1999 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and has since released several albums, including the most recent California. The group creates a Latin rhythm through the use of Spanish guitars, a Cuban Tres, box drum, bass and harmonizing vocals. Its music has been featured in the TV shows The Shield and The L Word as well as the films The Ugly Truth and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

            Tickets for this event are: students, $5 in advance/$6 at the door; NMU faculty, staff and seniors 60+, $13 advance/$15 door; and general public, $18 advance/$20 door. They can be purchased at NMU EZ Ticket outlets.

            This concert is co-sponsored by the NMU modern languages and literatures department and the International Performing Arts Series.
