MONTREAL TALK AT NMU

            MARQUETTE, Mich.—The Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center at Northern Michigan University will present “Montreal: Gateway to the West” at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 5, in the West Science Building’s Mead Auditorium.

            NMU history professor Russell Magnaghi will talk about the importance that Montreal has played in the settlement of the Midwest, particularly Michigan, from the time of the fur trade through the mass immigration of Europeans to North America in the 19th century. 

This lecture is presented in conjunction with the center’s exhibit titled “Across the Border: Canadians in the Upper Peninsula.” For more information, call 227-3212.
