NMU STUDENTS SECURE SUMMER INTEL INTERNSHIPS

MARQUETTE, Mich.—Northern Michigan University seniors Axel Cisluycis of Marquette and Nicole Ross of Sault Ste. Marie are participating in the fourth annual Intel Wireless Internship Program.

Two NMU students are selected each year for summer internships at Intel Corp. headquarters in Hillsboro, Ore. The program is an extension of the partnership between the company and university that dates back to 2000, when Northern launched its campus-wide technology initiative and used Intel products to power its notebook computers.

The two computer science majors will remain at Intel through mid-August.

“I’ve become quite familiar with the workplace already and it’s incredible,” said Cisluycis. “Loads of perks, satisfying work and a very enlightened atmosphere make for an environment that makes you want to work.”

Ross said, “I was pretty ecstatic at being chosen. It was like winning the lottery for me. Intel, so far, seems like the perfect place for an internship.”

After returning to Marquette, the students will complete their internships on campus under the guidance of NMU information technology-technology services staff.
