WALLACE APPOINTED INTERIM DEAN AT NMU

            MARQUETTE, Mich.—Harvey Wallace has accepted an interim appointment as dean of the College of Professional Studies at Northern Michigan University. He will hold the position through June 30, 2012. Wallace most recently served as head of the health, physical education and recreation department.

"Harvey has been at the Northern for more than 30 years and has a developed a deep understanding of both the culture and values of our university," said Interim Provost Paul Lang. "He continues to be a strong advocate for our students and will, I am sure, model that advocacy at the college level."

Wallace succeeds Lang, who was recently promoted. Mary Jane Tremethick is the new department head in health, physical education and recreation.

Wallace joined the NMU faculty in 1978. He holds a doctorate in health education from the University of Toledo and a bachelor's degree in physical education from UCLA.
