NMU'S MILESKI NAMED CHEF OF THE YEAR

            MARQUETTE, Mich.—Nathan Mileski, corporate executive chef with Northern Michigan University’s dining services, has received his third “Chef of the Year” Award from the American Culinary Federation (ACF) Upper Michigan Chapter. This recognition is awarded annually to the individual “who best personifies the qualities and attributes of ongoing promotion of the culinary profession and assisting advancement in education and expertise.”

Mileski is an ACF-certified executive chef who previously won the award in 1997 and 2002. Over the past three years, he has also won two gold and two silver medals in national ACF-sanctioned culinary competitions.

The American Culinary Federation Inc., established in 1929, is the largest professional chefs organization in North America. There are more than 20,000 members in 225 chapters nationwide.  ACF offers educational resources, training, apprenticeships and programmatic accreditation. It also operates the most comprehensive certification program for chefs in the United States. The organization is home to the ACF Culinary Team USA, the official representative for the United States in major international culinary competitions, and to the Chef & Child Foundation, founded in 1989 to promote proper nutrition in children and to combat childhood obesity.
