STUDENTS SELECTED FOR PROVOST'S TEAM

            MARQUETTE—Northern Michigan University Provost Paul Lang appointed 11 students to his leadership team for the 2011-2012 academic year. The students assist the provost, who is the highest academic officer at a university, in various duties throughout the school year.

            “I look to my student leadership team for advice and consultation on matters that impact their lives as students,” Lang said. “I am particularly interested in their perspectives on issues associated with their academic experiences. I have been very impressed with the maturity and openness of my student leadership team and have learned much from them regarding their unique experiences and challenges while here at Northern.”

             The selected students, along with their class standing and academic majors, are:

            Michigan

            Escanaba: Daniel Kilm, junior, mechanical engineering technology; Hannahville: Betsy Trudeau, sophomore, media production; Hillsdale: Cassandra Hastings, sophomore, physics; Evan Clendening, junior, management of health and fitness; Ishpeming: Kayla Chapman, junior, nursing; Marquette: Justin Brugman, senior, political science; Newberry: Kayla Lahti, senior, finance; Romulus: Taylor Johnson, sophomore, general university studies;

            Wisconsin

            Eau Claire: Morgan Raether, senior, English secondary education; River Falls: Bailey Franklin, senior, physical education/coaching;

            China

            Huai’an, Jiangsu: Jian Sha, graduate, English.
