NMU Students Selected for Intel Internships

Thursday 22, 2011

MARQUETTE, Mich.—Eight computer science students at Northern Michigan University have been selected for six-month internships, beginning in January, at an Intel Corporation facility near Portland, Ore. These opportunities are in addition to the program Intel established in 2008, which makes summer internships available to select NMU students at the same location.

Among a pool of 30 applicants, student interns selected for the company's network tablet group are (from Michigan unless otherwise noted): Axel Kingsley, who also was a summer 2011 intern, and Bruce Olson, both of Marquette; Steve Jarvis of Niagara, Wis.; Kristina Tickler of Quinnesec; and Sara Foster of Rochester, Minn. Those named to the mobility wireless group are Travis Clark and Eric Smith of Marquette, along with Stephen Wilson of Manchester.

Three other applicants—Bryan Denslow of Cadillac, David Pfeiffer of West Bloomfield and Adam Jacques of Marquette—were offered employment in the Intel Lab on NMU’s campus. Students employed at the recently created lab in the Learning Resources Center are testing wireless software and working on a robotics project at the request of the technology company.
