NCLL Tours Mill

            MARQUETTE, Mich.—The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will offer a tour of LP Building Products titled “Logs to Lumber: A Run through the Mill” at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 13. Participants will meet at the Marquette Mall parking lot on U.S. 41.
            Larry Heathman, resource manager, will take the group through the mill to observe the process of turning logs into boards. Participants will proceed to the grounds of one of the forest management sites, where they will witness the operation of harvesting trees, sorting wood products, bio-fuel chipping and loading logs onto trucks. No photography or open-toed shoes within the mill area. Participants should bring $1 to pay for the bus ride to the site.
            This class is free for NCLL members and $5 for non-members. Register by June 5 by calling the NCLL office at 227-2979.
