MARQUETTE, Mich.—Pianist David Lessner will lead a master piano class and perform a concert at Northern Michigan University. Both events will be held in Reynolds Recital Hall. His class is scheduled at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19. It is free and open to the public.

Lessner’s recital will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21. It will feature Bach’s Goldberg Variations and various pieces by Chopin and Rachmaninoff. The event will conclude with Prokofiev’s Sonata in Bb, Opus 83. Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for students and available at all NMU EZ Ticket outlets.

Lessner received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Juilliard, where he also worked as an assistant faculty member for two seasons. He has toured throughout the United States and was the winner and only American to reach the finals in the sixth Palm Beach International Piano Competition.

“Mr. Lessner’s recital provides a wonderful opportunity for the Upper Peninsula to host a world-class pianist performing in a world-class venue,” said Rob Engelhart, chair of the NMU music department.
