NMU Retiree Social Thursday

Tuesday 5, 2013

MARQUETTE, Mich.— Northern Michigan University will host its winter retiree social from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Feb. 7, in the University Center Cadillac and Brule rooms. Refreshments will be served. Retirees are welcome to bring a spouse/guest.

Carol Margrif will give a presentation on the life and contributions of environmentalist John Muir (1838-1914), who has been called the “father of our national parks.” The presentation will cover his boyhood days in Dunbar, Scotland, including glimpses into the family home, now the John Muir Museum. His years in Wisconsin (1849-1863) are often considered the beginning of the national parks system.

NMU retirees should RSVP to (906) 227-2317 or retirees@nmu.edu.
