NCLL Goes Behind the Scenes of Airport Operation

MARQUETTE, Mich.— The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will offer a behind-the-scenes tour of Sawyer International Airport from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, March 27. Participants should meet at the northeast corner of the Econo parking lot in Marquette to board the Marq-Tran bus.

Airport manager Duane DuRay will lead the tour—the first of three planned.  DuRay will speak about general aviation, including maintenance, fueling, charter flights, UPS, freight and private planes. The tour will also include information about the terminal itself, including Transportation Security Administration, general operations, airlines, the control tower; firefighting, runway maintenance and construction. DuRay will also talk about the various Federal Aviation Administration regulations, which affect everyone working at the airport.

The event is free for members and $5 for members, with an additional $1 per person for the Marq-Tran bus. Register by Thursday, March 21,  by calling 227-2979.
