NMU Dance Recital April 27

            MARQUETTE, Mich.— Northern Michigan University’s dance program will host a concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 27, in Forest Roberts Theatre. The concert will feature choreography by NMU students and community members, with select pieces by NMU faculty. Dance genres include Zumba, ballet, jazz, contemporary, modern, belly dance, hip-hop and performance poetry.

            Tickets are available in advance at all NMU EZ Ticket outlets or at the door. Cost is $3 for students and $5 for the general public.

            The dance concert will include a traditional fan dance performed by NMU alumna Denise Gray, four classical ballet variations performed by students in the Ballet Theory and Composition course, a tribute piece in memory of NMU student-athlete Arianna Alioto, a belly dance number performed by guest instructor Ashley McGrath and her students, and a live music, poetry and dance trip through the Congo conceived and performed by NMU faculty members Cheryl Teeters and Jen Pickard, along with NMU students and the Log Jam Drummers.
