NMU Student Exhibits Work in NYC
MARQUETTE, Mich. — Northern Michigan University senior Brendan Solinsky is one of only 12 students nationwide selected to exhibit their work at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in New York City. He is a furniture design major from Tucson, Ariz. The ICFF will be held May 18-21.
Solinsky’s exhibit piece, “Table Chair,” is designed for a small space and can serve as either a table or a chair. It can be repositioned into a variety of forms, a feature Solinsky identified as “a major concern in small living environments.” He combined hard maple, Baltic birch and milk paint to create the interactive piece that is both functional and artistic.
Student work in the exhibition can be voted on as part of a “People’s Choice Award,” for which the winner will receive a Powermatic band saw. The online gallery and voting can be found at powermaticstudentvote.com. Voting ends on Monday, May 20.
