Students Sell Daisies to Raise Awareness

Tuesday 2, 2013

MARQUETTE, Mich.— A group of Northern Michigan University students has organized a fundraiser called “Draw the Line with Daisies” to raise awareness of honor killings in Pakistan and support efforts to decrease them.

The students, who are enrolled in an international health issues class, chose daisies to represent their cause because the flowers embody simplicity, patience, strength and beauty. Daisy seed packets will be sold at $5 per packet and potted daisy plants at $10.

The fundraiser will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 20, at the Westwood Mall in Marquette. All proceeds will be donated to the United Nations Development Fund for Women.
