MARQUETTE— An entrepreneurship panel featuring Northern Michigan University and Marquette community members will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, in Reynolds Recital Hall. It is titled "Make Your Dent in the Universe: Lessons from Three Entrepreneurial Stories." Participants include Nheena Weyer Ittner of the Upper Peninsula Children’s Museum, Tom Vear of Donckers and Bob Stefanski, co-founder of Tibco Software and founder of Michigan E-Lab. NMU President David Haynes and NMU Trustee Thomas Zurbuchen, who is associate dean for entrepreneurship at the University of Michigan, will host the event. The public is invited free of charge.

Panelists will discuss their entrepreneurial stories, what students can do to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and how to develop innovative solutions to workplace problems. This event will last roughly an hour and a reception will follow in the Hedgcock atrium, during which students will have an opportunity to interact with the panelists. Student entrepreneurial activities at NMU will be highlighted.

This event is part of the UNITED Conference and the first in the Critical Issues Conversations series hosted by the NMU president’s office. Future events include Jocelyn Benson, dean of Wayne State University Law School, on Wednesday, Oct. 9; and Brian Calley, Michigan’s lieutenant governor, on Friday, Nov. 1.
