Tuesday 29, 2013
MARQUETTE— The DeVos Art Museum at Northern Michigan University will present a historical slideshow titled “J.M. Longyear: A Grand Tour through Lantern Slides.” The program begins at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, in the museum and will be presented by curatorial intern Craig Neeson. It is free and open to the public.
John Munroe Longyear, a Michigan-born industrialist, took the slides in Europe in the early 20th century. The slides are presented in conjunction with other Longyear exhibitions at the Beaumier Heritage Center and the Marquette Regional History Center.
