NMU Adds 'Les Miserable' Shows
Northern Michigan University has scheduled additional performances of the musical Les Miserables, fueled by popular demand and a sold-out initial run. The added shows will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, and Saturday, Nov. 23, in Forest Roberts Theatre. Tickets are $15 for general admission, $10 for students and $5 for NMU students. Les Misérables is based on the Victor Hugo novel of the same name. It takes place in 19th century France. Jean Valjean is released from 19 years of unjust imprisonment, but finds nothing in store for him but mistrust and mistreatment. He breaks his parole in hopes of starting a new life, but is pursued by Police Inspector Javert, who refuses to believe that Valjean can change his ways. In the end, Javert must confront his ideas about Valjean in the gripping conclusion of this international hit.
