NMU Presents 'American in Paris'
MARQUETTE, Mich.--Northern Michigan University senior Alycia Heckathorn of Ironwood will present her capstone project, an original ballet set to George Gershwin’s An American in Paris, in NMU’s Forest Roberts Theatre. Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, and Saturday, Feb. 8. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the box office or through any NMU EZ Ticket outlet.
An American in Paris follows a young couple on their adventure through Paris as they visit the city’s most iconic sites. The production is choreographed by Heckathorn, a theater major, and Jill Grundstrom, adjunct instructor in the health and human performance department at NMU.
Heckathorn stars as Her in the ballet, with Jacob DeLong of Sturgis as Him. Additional cast members in the roles of Them are: Donavon Chambers of Ferndale; Ellen DiGiacinto of White Hall, Md.; Grundstrom; Gabrielle Revord of Iron Mountain; Molly Smith of Gladwin; Maureen Sullivan of Anchorage, Alaska; and Jimme Vereb and Jill Vermeulen of Marquette.
