The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, in the University Center Great Lakes Rooms. It will open with a set by local blues act Hart, Harp and Bones.

The Holmes Brothers band is composed of bassist/vocalist Sherman Holmes, guitarist/pianist/vocalist Wendell Holmes and drummer/vocalist and “brother in spirit” Popsy Dixon. Their three-part harmony brings the spirit of gospel music into everything they perform, but they blend that with Saturday night roadhouse rock, blues, R&B and country. The band has won multiple Blues Music Awards and shared the stage with Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Bruce Springsteen, Patti Smith, Willie Nelson, Lou Reed, Peter Gabriel, Merle Haggard, Keith Richards, Al Green, Ben Harper, Lucinda William and others.
